Competitive Analysis

Handshake
Strengths: Easy to use, directly connects the user's profile with the school they are attending, shows qualification levels for jobs, strong UI (very aesthetic)
Weaknesses: Not many personal connection opportunities with professionals, no career building resources

Strengths: Connecting with professionals, messaging professionals, job search
Weaknesses: unclear journey map, connections become quantity over quality, messy user interface and navigation within the app

Results
Neither app has in-app skill builders that could help students gain skilled experience without requiring a hands-on internship. My team decided to take inspirations from linkedin in the way they prioritize communication with experts, and inspiration from Handshake's aesthetic and clear user interface.

User Interviews
My team interviewed a total of 15 students- at the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Arkansas- where we discovered that most students felt unprepared entering the workforce causing stress and anxiety amongst the majority.

Problem Statement
Students are feeling an overwhelming amount of stress as they enter the workforce. They feel unprepared, inexperienced, and lacking the resources that they need to be better prepared professionals.

Key Takeaways and Final Thoughts
02
User testing showed that it is more important to keep text minimal and readable, rather than packing it in
03
YOU ARE NOT THE USER!! When I was working on this design I had to stop myself from making the design about what I wanted, and focus on the users
01
User interviews are important for gathering data that is crucial to creating a user-centric design
